Montana is small enough that legislators often know many of their constituents by name. Each House District represents about 11,000 people and each Senate District includes two House Districts.

But it’s worth getting a big picture look at each district. How many married couples are there with children in the district? What percentage of the population are senior citizens? How many school districts are there? What percentage of the land is owned by the federal government?

The Legislative Services Division recently released demographic profiles for each district. By simply clicking on a map, anyone can access profiles that touch on population changes, age ranges, race, and veteran status. But also included are statics on land ownership, road miles, and schools. Click here for a sample.
