The Law and Justice Interim Committee (LJIC) provides administrative rule review, draft legislation review, program evulation, and oversight for the Department of Corrections (DOC), the Department of Justice (DOJ), and the Office of the State Public Defender (OPD) and serves as the liaison to the Judicial Branch of Montana.
LJIC’s first meeting is July 24th where members will discuss the committee’s assigned studies, Senate Joint Resolution 31 and House Bill 697, as well as decide other topics for the interim.
The committee’s statutory duties are in 5-5-226, MCA.
LJIC members include: Sens. John Esp, Chris Friedel, Ryan Lynch, and Keith Regier and Reps. Jodee Etchart, Donavon Hawk, Caleb Hinkle, and Amy Regier.
