The Montana Invasive Species Council produced a video explaining the danger of allowing feral swine into Montana. Feral swine are an invasive species that damages crops, pastures, and waterways, and these animals can carry diseases that spread to livestock, people, and wildlife. The Legislature banned feral swine from Montana in 2015 and state law gives authority to control the animals to the Department of Livestock. Feral swine are present just north of Montana in Canada. On Sept. 14, Canadian and state authorities will provide an update on the status of feral swine to the Environmental Quality Council.
