Fires continue to burn across the state this summer. Though recent rains beat back some of the flames, the season is not over yet. To get Montanans the latest news on fires across the state, the Northern Rockies Coordination Group created a Montana Wildland Fire Dashboard. The group includes the Montana departments of Natural Resources and Conservation and Fish, Wildlife, and Parks.

Fire is a topic of much interest to the Legislature. The availability of money to fight fires is an annual topic. The Environmental Quality Council in recent years studied how some costs are paid. The EQC also examined prescribed burning and compiled graphic information about environmental indicators related to fire.
